As you all know, I have done so many poetry book reviews on here, but there is one book I have left out. That book being The Princess Saves Herself In This One by Amanda Lovelace. This is because it is my absolute favorite book of poetry EVER, and I want to be able to describe it in the best way.

When I heard she got a PUBLISHING DEAL, I was in complete awe. I wanted to wait for the re-release so I can review it- new poems and all. That post will be going up shortly.

This past Friday, I actually got to attend Amanda’s book signing! It was an unforgettable experience, and it happened to be the first real book signing I ever attended. I have numerous signed books, but mostly through authors sending their books directly to me, or buying them online and pre-signed at book stores.

The new version is thicker- it contains new poems!

This book signing started off with Amanda reading about 20-25 poems from her book. She actually read my favorite poem from the book (A Survival Plan of Sorts) which I posted a picture of on my Instagram. This was followed by some questions from the audience; I even got to ask her a question!

Then, it was finally time to line up for the signing. When it was my turn to go up, I told Amanda about how cool it was to hear her read my favorite poem. We then had a brief conversation about the book, and I took out my original self-published one for her to sign. She said it was the first one she saw that night. She signed both copies for me, and we said our goodbyes. The only thing I regret is not asking for a picture, just because it completely slipped my mind. Hopefully I’ll be able to see her for book 2!

I also saw Liv (Youtube and blog) there! I didn’t go up to say hi because I’m really awkward in person, but it was cool to see her there.

Overall, I am pleased at the way my first book signing went, and I hope to attend more in the future. Do you own any signed books? By who?

  1. I love book signings! I feel the more you go to, the more comfortable you get at them–and the easier it is to ask for pictures! The first few I went to I was always too shy to ask for pictures. Now at the bookstore nearest me they at least plan the event so they always have someone there to take pictures for you and pose you with the author(s). I definitely want to go to more! My favorite I think was when Marissa Meyer came around!
